Altay long-distance bus station is on No.16, Tuanjie Road, leading to all counties in Urumqi and Altay city.Altay Airport is in the southwest of Altay city, about 10kms from the city center. Nanhang Xinjing Company opens Urumqi-Altay airline, seven scheduled flight every week.

Burjin got its name from Burjin river. From Xihan Dynasty to Qing Dynasty, Burjin had always been the nomadic land. Until in 1919, Altay attached Xinjiang province.Burjin enjoys a dry and hot summer and a cold winter. The whole year is rainless and windy. There is great temperature difference in day and night.Burjin is the transportation center of Altay area, national highway 217 crossed the city. There are sleeper bus trip between Urumqi and Burjin.
